Childhood sweethearts from Dehradun, Riya and Sameer wanted to marry within sight of the mountains they grew up beneath — a small, warm, two-day celebration wrapped in deodar forest and mountain mist.
Mountain weather that can turn in minutes, a remote location with limited supplier access, and the logistics of moving 150 guests and a full production up winding hill roads to 6,500 feet.
We leaned into the elements rather than fighting them. A fireside sangeet in heavy wool and amber light; a ceremony on a forest ridge with the Himalayan range as the only backdrop we needed; copper, pine, dried botanicals and the warmth of a hundred candles against the cool air.
The mist broke at exactly the right moment, revealing snow peaks behind the couple as they took their vows — a photograph now framed in three family homes. An intimate wedding that proved scale and meaning have nothing to do with one another.
